One of my favorite pieces from them is the Stress Remedy charm.
I love the vintage genie bottle look, and for me, it's a reminder to slow down and take a break! It is $60 and looks great on all of the chains we have in stock, but my favorite has to be the brass chain. These silver rimmed beauties earn their patina over time giving them a great, well traveled look. These intial pendants look great layered with the birthstones, remedy bottles, or just about all of the other pieces.
I love the idea of honoring my Grandparents with a collection necklace. My plan is to have one charm for each of them as well and one for my only Uncle, Calvin.

The first charm will be for my Grandmother Alice. As a very young child I can remember her reading to my sister and I. Even though she has been gone for many years, I can still hear her voice saying those words every child should hear as much as possible, "Once upon a time...". No matter what the story was, she always said those three words exactly the same way. Luckily, I heard them so many times, they imprinted on my heart.
My Grandfather, was a business man. He took over our family's store, http://www.texastastes.com, from my Great-Grandfather in the 1940s. He taught me about customer service, and loving what you do for a living. He taught my Dad the same things, and while we don't work together everyday anymore we talk about our favorite things (our stores!) everyday, and remind each other of how proud we are of each others sucesses. We are certain that my grandfather is looking down on us, and that he is very proud as well! The most important thing I learned from him, was to be myself and follow my heart. This charm from Waxing Poetic expresses just that. On one side it says "Live True" and on the other it says " Your heart is your map". Yes, that fits.
Last, but most certainly not least on that side, my beloved Uncle Calvin. When he was eight years old, it was discovered that he had a tyroid deficency which had unfortunately caused brain damage. He was frozen at that age mentally, high fuctioning, but childlike. He read to us and doted on us as children, and now as adults, he adores us. And we adore him! My son Cameron is the apple of his eye, and we all look forward to visits.
As a young man, he enjoyed pitching a baseball in the backlot of the store to kids whose parents were shopping at our store. To say he was obsessed with baseball would be an understatement. He knew almost all of the major league players and their stats up until just a few years ago. It was unusual to go over to my grandparent's house (where he lived) and not hear a baseball game playing on the radio. My husband, Shannon, was the pitcher for our high school, and when we started dating three years later, I brought him home to meet the family. My uncle remembered him from hearing his name on our local radio station. It's really obvious, but Waxing Poetics Past Times Baseball pendant reminds me the most of my Uncle.
My Mother's parents were amazing people as well. My Grandmother was an auctioneer's secretary, taking auction notes at Port City Stockyards in Sealy, Texas for many years. I always admired her strength, because she suffered from deblitating arthritis in her hands. I never heard her complain about her hands, not once. What I do remember is she belonged to tons of volunteer and community groups. She never failed to show up for countless commitments. She had many, many friends and touched many lives with love and kindness. It was a rare Friday, Saturday or Sunday that they sat at home. Even late in life they were visiting friends or entertaining them at their home. So, the charm that fits my memory of her is a special one. It's a flip pendant, and says one thing on one side, and the rest on the other. "Say yes more often"
My Grandfather was a Navy Frogman, a predessor to today's Navy SEALS, and was most definitely my hero. He spoke very little about his service, and when he did, it was not to brag- it was matter of fact. He often told his stories so straight forward, that you weren't impressed until later when you thought about it. He planted flags in enemy territory so that our planes knew where to land. He was one of the first ones on the beach at Normandy, the list goes on and on for three tours of duty. When I saw the lion dog tag from Waxing Poetic, I knew it was perfect. The lion is a symbol of courage.
